The $35 million Western Cancer Centre Dubbo project aims to deliver high quality cancer care through innovation, education and equity of access.

On 2 June 2017, the NSW Government pledged $10 million in addition to the Federal Government’s $25 million commitment to deliver the Integrated Cancer Centre for Dubbo Hospital.

The Western Cancer Centre will include a PET CT Scanner for cancer diagnostics, a bunker for radiation therapy, 16 chemotherapy treatment spaces and a master planned area to future proof an area for a second radiation therapy bunker - delivering life-saving care much closer to home.

Western NSW Local Health District has undertaken extensive planning and engagement to identify the future cancer service requirements for the area. On 6 November 2019, Health Minister Brad Hazzard announced the construction tender was awarded to Lipman and work would start in early 2020.  

The Western Cancer Centre project will be delivered in paralell with the Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment Stages 3 and 4. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2021.
